During research, in order to track everything, I stored information in my blogs and multiple exercises that were done in class, such as Google Forms and outlines done on Google Docs. In terms of how I searched things, the majority of my research was found through search engines such as Microsoft Bing and Google. I came to understand the conventions/traits of the magazine genre “food” and how certain elements create meaning through writing many blogs and discussing with classmates about the specific conventions/traits of their magazines as well.
In terms of planning each component, it was very helpful to use Canva and Google Blogger. Through these platforms, I was able to create mock-ups and discuss how these mock-ups were beneficial or harmful towards the image/components of my magazine. This was a very useful process to be able to decide which layout to use, content, color scheme, and other conventions of food magazines as well. However, it wasn’t very useful due to the many structural errors within the layout of the Canva and Google Blogger sites themselves. If there was anything I could have done differently it would have been to make all of my plans into Canva mock-ups rather than sketching a few of them by hand.
While developing each component, I once again used Canva and Google Blogger to create mock-ups. These mock-ups, however, turned out to be better than the original plans because I was able to change and recreate the sketched layouts into a different form; a virtual form. The process of creating things using Blogger and Canva were very unfamiliar to me, however both were easy to use and provided me with new knowledge of programs and skills that can be used in the future.
The revision process was very beneficial to the changes applied to my components. During the revision process, classmates and peers were able to revise my work and assess the many changes which needed to be made. This can be applied to many other fields of study, such as other classes, or even future businesses. Having peers anonymously review my product is what worked best in terms of receiving feedback, and the thing that worked worst was having people outside of the classroom attempt to give me feedback, due to them not knowing the complete process and rules of creating this product.
While reflecting on my final product, it was rather simple. During each step of the project, such as the plans and choices, I had peers along with my teacher review my work. In terms of self-reflecting on my plans, I think many of my drafts are good and the plans in general worked out very well for the creation of my product. However, something I would change during the planning process would be to digitally create layouts- or mock-ups- of all of my plans rather than sketches. In terms of self-reflecting on my choices, I noticed that many were very good choices based upon the feedback I had received. However, a few things, such as the coloring of my 2-page spread and certain aspects of the layout in my TOC, as well as the images included in the TOC and main cover could have been changed to look better and more professional. In the future, through this reflection, I will be able to use this information gathered to be able to improve my magazine for the greater good of building a business/platform!

Interviewer: Welcome back everyone to Behind The Zines! It's your favorite MC here, Sharon George, today we have a special guest; Cierra Bryant, the famous and popular food magazine creator in society! So let's welcome Cierra onto our show.
Cierra B: Thank you Sharon for inviting me to the show, it's such a pleasure to be here.
Interviewer: Likewise. So today we are going to be talking about how Cierra used and integrated technologies into her project... let's get into it! So talking about software, what programs or apps did you use in your magazine?
Cierra B: So, the softwares used in my project were Canva and Picsart. These served the purpose of image editing along with layout formatting; both were successful.
Interviewer: Would you have done anything differently?
Cierra B:  I would not have done anything differently, however Picsart did have some issues with limited access to tools due to being unsubscribed from the app.
Interviewer: My next question is the hardware side of this project, what were some of the equipment used for the editing, publishing, and researching of your magazine?
Cierra B:  The chromebook was used for digital aspects of the project, as well as my cellphone for photo editing.
Interviewer: Awesome, I love using my phone to edit my photos too. Would you have done anything differently?
Cierra B:  Both were successful hardwares, and no issues were run into; I would therefore do nothing differently.
Interviewer: Okay! My next question is the online section of the project, so what were the websites that were used for communication and the assignments?
Cierra B: The online parts of my project were through Canva, Google Classroom, and Google Blogger. These were used for tracking information and posting blogs, as well as preliminary assignments and layout formatting.
Interviewer: Yeah, so did you find any difficulty when using these websites?
Cierra B: These were successful, however if I could do anything differently it would be to switch from Google Blogger to another platform. This is because the main issues I ran into were with formatting and placement problems on Google Blogger.
Interviewer: Yeah, I totally get that. How did you overcome these issues?
Cierra B: So, I found that through putting together two pictures on Canva, I was able to place it into Blogger and it still look good.
Interviewer: Oh.... so my last question is what are the next steps into your food magazine? I know you've published and everything, so what does the future hold for you?
Cierra B: So, in the future, I would like to make more volumes of my magazine and distribute it both physically and digitally in places like book stores, and online platforms like Barnes & Noble's app, and, keep an eye out for this, but in the future I will also be collaborating with many chefs and television networks.
Interviewer: Will you work with Gordon Ramsey one day?
Cierra B: Maybe....
Interviewer: Maybe.... okay that is all for today's interview with Cierra Bryant! Thank you for coming and spending time answering questions, I hope to maybe see you again.. maybe next time?
Cierra B: Yes, thank you!
Interviewer: And that will be all, bye guys!
